The magic of the Sacred Tree

Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) is a particularly magical tree, and is a family of trees that have been used for healing, purification and ritual since ancient times. It was and is often used by many indigenous tribes for limpias (a technique in which the smoke is used for cleansing and purification). Our Palo Santo comes from the Chiclayo region of Peru where it is ethically harvested from the wild by a small family of farmers. The family we work with only uses trees that have died naturally. No living trees are cut down for it, something often seen in Palo Santo's trade.

We work with an indigenous family from the Chiclayo region of Northern Peru, who have been stewards of Palo Santo's native habitat for hundreds of years. They ethically harvest naturally fallen trees that have aged at least 3-5 years on the ground, while also replanting the trees in the wild. It is within this aging process that the protective and mystical resins develop. They also work with government agencies in Peru who protect this precious and ancient tree and assist in its reforestation. We would only support the most ethical processing of this tree. We are proud to directly support a family that has been stewards of these lands for generations.

How to use: PALO SANTO OIL: Dab a small amount onto your wrists, third eye and anything that needs to be anointed. Enjoy the refreshing magic. PALO SANTO PROTECTION MYST: Shake well and spray around you 3-5 times. This can also be used to purify your environment, or you can use it as a soft and refreshing woody perfume. PALO SANTO SACRED WOOD INCENSE: Use a candle, match or lighter to light your Palo Santo stick. At an angle of about 45 degrees, hold the tip down toward the flame. Let it burn for about 30 seconds to 1 minute and then blow out. Use it at your workplace, in your home, in your car, in your bathroom or wherever you want to purify the air. The rich scent will also bring peace and clarity. When you have finished purifying the space you want to purify, place the smoldering stick in a refractory bowl made of metal, glass or clay. The stick will extinguish on its own unless you blow on it, keeping the smoke active. Always be careful and respectful when working with fire.
